What is it about?:

AIR Football is a programme providing specialist five/seven/eleven-a-side training for men/women aged 16+ with a desire to improve their quality of life and for those who are engaged with services including alcohol/substance misuse, mental health, homeless and the probation/youth offending teams.

The programme provides an opportunity to increase fitness, confidence, self-esteem and to develop team building skills while also looking to assist with their future goals.

Drop In Tea Dance


What is it about?:

Dance to old-time DJ Mr Wonderful, or just sit back and enjoy the music; Relax and chat over a cup of tea, some sandwiches and cake; Stay for half an hour or all afternoon; Get up-to-date information about end-of-life care in your area; Tell us what you think about end-of-life care in north east London.

This event is mainly, though not exclusively, aimed at groups from the outer north east London boroughs of Barking and Dagenham, Havering, Redbridge and Waltham Forest.

This is a ticketed event.

Numbers are limited so tickets will be issued on a first-come-first-served basis. If you are successful, a ticket will be sent to the address you register (either by e-mail or post). The tickets are not transferrable and must be brought to West Ham with you on the day.

What is it about?:

The East London and the City Alliance People's Platforms and St Joseph's Hospice invite patients, carers and the public to an event to discuss end of life care services in north east London.

A number of interactive workshops will be held to hear your story and give us your views on end of life care. Your views will help local NHS organisations to develop better services for local people.

A seminar on 'how to write a will' will be held and information on local services will be available. Facilitators will include Somali, Bangladeshi and Turkish speakers.

The Wanstead Art Trail


What is it about?:

Bring along your family and friends to the first Wanstead Art Trail, and enjoy one of the neighbourhood's biggest free events. The trail - supported by The Wanstead Society community group - begins on Sunday 19th September, the same day as the Wanstead Festival, to help create an exciting buzz in the area. Shops, businesses, pubs and community centres in and around Wanstead High Street will be displaying work by over 130 local artists, from professionals to enthusiastic amateurs. A variety of work - painting, sculpture, photography, mosaic, textiles, stained glass and more - will also be displayed at Wanstead Golf Club, The Temple in Wanstead Park and Wanstead House Community Centre. Local school children will also be participating, with displays at Wanstead Library and Christ Church. All the venues are within walking distance of each other.

What is it about?:

A social party bringing together people of all cultures to celebrate diversity in South Ilford. A celebration of the life and diversity of people in Ilford with poetry reading, songs, films, music, food and stories from different lands. This is a great opportunity for some of the most marginal communities in Ilford to come together and celebrate the riches of their culture.

The Forgiveness Exhibition


What is it about?:

Images of Forgiveness exhibition is a thought provoking collection of arresting images and personal narratives exploring forgiveness in the face of atrocity. First launched in London in 2004, it has since been displayed in over 300 venues worldwide. Drawing together voices from South Africa, America, Israel, Palestine, Northern Ireland and England, the exhibition examines forgiveness as a healing process, a journey out of victimhood and, ultimately, a journey of hope.

Interfaith Reflection


What is it about?:

An opportunity for people of all faiths and none to reflect on the theme of peace and justice using mostly pictures, music and silence.

An interfaith reflection/meditaton on the them of peace. We invite people to come together from different religious and cultural backgrounds and spend time reflecting on their own response to the issue of peace-making using images, words and music from the different parts of the world and different peoples that make up Ilford.
