Annual Memory Walk

The Redbridge Branch of the Alzheimer's Society would like to invite you to come along and take part in their Annual Memory Walk to mark World Alzheimer's Day.

The date is Sunday 23rd September, 11am at Hainault Forest Country Park. The Deputy Mayor of Redbridge, Cllr Chris Cummins will officially open the walk.

Art and Film Double Bill

Redbridge Concern for Mental Health and thinkarts invite you to the opening of our annual art exhibition: Paint The Town Red.

Dr Nathan Abrams, a film lecturer at the University of Bangor will be giving a talk on the subject of Mental Illness and the Moving Image.

The event is on Monday 8th October from 1.15 to 4pm. There will also be a buffet so - if you would like to attend - please email Jon Abrams or call the office on 020 8925 2435 to book a place.

The Mansfield Road Centre is holding an open day on Wednesday 19th September between 11am - 4pm. There will be speakers, music, and information about services.

JOB: Community Development Worker (Mental Health)

Community Development Worker - Mental Health in Black and Minority Ethnic Communities. Full time post. Salary £25,569 (SO1 Scale Point 29).

RedbridgeCVS is now recruiting a Community Development Worker who will be based in the North East London Mental Health Trust's Early Intervention in Psychosis Team at Goodmayes Hospital. The post's key aims are to support appropriate access to statutory and non-statutory mental health services and work collaboratively across a range of agencies in order to improve the mental health and well being of Black and Minority Ethnic communities.

Introducing the Service User Quality Standards

Nelmht has commissioned Katalyst Consultancy - Well Being in Action - a service user led independent company, to assist patients and the Trust in the development of a set of user led quality standards across a range of different services.

The aim is to improve the quality of the services provided, promote recovery and well-being and the service user experience.

Improving Services and Support for Older People with Mental Health Problems

This second report - which, you can download and read here - reviews the services available to older people who experience mental health problems. The report adds evidence to that of many other organisations in demonstrating the inadequacies of these services in range, in quantity and in quality.

The report adds its voice to those of others in calling for care that meets older people's needs, that receives a fair allocation of resources and that respects the dignity and humanity of the service users.

Sports Day

Come along to the Nelmht Sports Day on Thursday September 20th from 11am to 3pm in the grounds of Goodmayes Hospital to celebrate physical activity and the arts.

There will be a range of sporting activities including: tai chi; aerobics; cricket; football; netball and rounders.

Everyone is welcome to spectate or participate - bring a picnic and sit and watch the cricket match which begins at 1pm.

Nelmht Foundation Trust Consultation

Nelmht is on the road to becoming a Foundation Trust. Consultation on the application will run from 9 July to 19 October 2007. During this time Nelmht will seek views and comments on their constitution and membership strategy, and will be actively engaging with the public, staff and local partners in order to recruit a vibrant and diverse membership.

Nelmht, therefore, have scheduled some public meetings throughout September to enable you to come along and find out what becoming a member means. Click here to find out where and when the meetings are being held.
