Description of Services:

NHS Direct is a telephone help line staffed by call handlers, nurse advisors and health information advisors.  Interpreters are available.

If you are not feeling well and need some advice about what to do, you can speak to an experienced nurse, any time of the day and night, including weekends and bank holidays.

If you need more general information, this may be provided by the person who answers your call (call handler) or your call will be returned by a health information advisor, during normal working hours.

You can request details of services and NHS policies/procedures, as well as general information about diagnosed conditions, tests and treatments.  Information can be provided over the phone or in writing.
