Service Description:
The Refuge - Redbridge VAWG service, funded by Redbridge Council, will provide confidential, non-judgmental, independent specialist support to women, girls and men, regardless of gender or sexuality, on a one to one or group basis.

The Team includes: Four specialist independent gender based violence advocates (IGVAs) to support women and men who at are at risk of serious harm; a Young people’s advocate a specialist service for young girls aged 14-17 year olds; a Children’s outreach worker a specialist service for children and their non-abusing parent; Group work and peer support scheme to reduce isolation, build social networks and support women to regain control of their lives.

The service is available to anyone living in Redbridge who has experienced, or is at risk of, gender-based violence including:

  • Domestic violence and abuse

  • Rape, sexual violence and sexual exploitation including trafficking and prostitutionStalking and harassment

  • Female genital mutilation (FGM)

  • Forced marriage

  • So called ‘honour’based violence
