Service Description:
The community based Redbridge child and adolescent mental health service offers help to young people from birth up to the age of 18 who are experiencing moderate to severe emotional, behavioural and mental health difficulties.

The Redbridge CAMHS team is based in a local clinic and offers various support such as assessment of development problems, autism, hyperactivity, depression, and early onset psychosis and brief interventions. The team also offers support to families and carers.

During a child or young person’s development, there may be periods when they or their family’s ability to cope with difficult emotions or behaviour can put extreme pressures on relationships. We work with children and young people as early on as possible during these difficulties to turn the situation around.

CAMHS Launch new website:

Designed based on feedback from young people and service users, the new website will act as a one stop shop for children, young people, families and professionals across Barking and Dagenham, Havering, Redbridge and Waltham Forest seeking advice and support on how to take care of their mental health. The aim is that this will empower children and young people to make positive decisions concerning their mental health and ensure we provide the best care to your family.

The new website, which can be accessed at http://www.nelft.nhs.uk/camhs, was created based on concerns from NHS staff and service users that the previous website was not designed for the younger generation, with quite a static layout and impersonal tone. We have addressed these queries with a new website which, with the use of videos and images, will provide children, young people and families with a full overview of their local CAMHS service (through a visual tour), the staff that will be caring for them and the different services we provide. There is also a dedicated area for children, young people, families and professionals to research and access resources from a wide range of healthcare organisations and charities which is tailored around how they are feeling. Professionals and parents can also refer their child to their local CAMHS service.

Days & Hours of Opening: Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.

Are referrals necessary? Referrals will be accepted from GPs, school nurses, social services, teachers and specialist children’s centres.
