Young People want to speak their minds

Thursday 16 April 2015

Redbridge Carers Support Service in partnership with Barnardos Indigo Young Carers Service would like to invite you to a very special event, with young carers and young adult carers from Redbridge. The event will take place on Thursday 16th April 2014 at 10am-12:30pm at Fullwell Cross Library, Aldborough Room, with a light lunch after.

Young carers and young adult carers aged 14-25 years from Redbridge will be in attendance to discuss their experiences both positive and negative and discuss what changes they would like to see in Redbridge that would improve the quality of life for the carer and the person they care for.

There are an estimated 700,000 young carers and 375,000 young adult carers in the UK who care, unpaid, for a family member or friend who due to illness, disability, mental health problem or an addiction, who could not cope without their support.

Caring has a huge impact on their lives physically, emotionally, socially and impacts their education and employment retention. Many of these carers care for over 50 hours a week and young adult carers aged between 16 and 18 years are twice as likely to be not in education, employment, or training (NEET).

Please RSVP by Monday 30th March 2015to j.selby@rcss.org.uk or call Janel Selby, Young Adult Carers Engagement and Development Officer for more information on 020 8514 6251.
